Viktor Krum is the brilliant Bulgarian Quidditch player who comes to Hogwarts for the Triwizard Tournament. This page contains a biography and links to Viktor Krum fanlistings.

Viktor Krum is best known for being a fantastic Quidditch player. He is a seeker for the Bulgarian Quidditch team; and is considered a genius by many, having entered the International Quidditch League while still attending wizarding school at Durmstrang. Krum and some of his fellow students travelled to Hogwarts to enter themselves as candidates in the Triwizard Tournament, Viktor Krum being the Durmstrang champion. He is often viewed both with suspicion, due to Durmstrang's reputation for teaching the Dark Arts, as well as with admiration for his feats and complexion (mostly from giggling girls in the Hogwarts Library).

Viktor had a crush on Hermione Granger, continually coming to the library to meet her, but did not have the courage to act on his feelings until just before the Yule Ball. Ron was furious that Hermione was "fraternising with the enemy." He acted as if he was jealous of Krum, and from then on disliked him. Karkaroff, who was the headmaster of Durmstrang and didn't admit Muggle-borns, wasn't particularly pleased with his interest in Granger either. Krum said he "had never felt this way about any other girl." In the second task, Hermione was the most prized possession that Krum had to retrieve as Durmstrang champion.

Rita Skeeter, looking for revenge on Hermione, made up a story for Witch Weekly, claiming she was toying with both Krum and Harry's affections. Harry became sick of telling people that Hermione wasn't his girlfriend. At the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Viktor Krum went back to Durmstrang on their boat which had risen in the lake beside Hogwarts. Viktor even asked Hermione to stay with him over the summer, but she stayed with the Order.

Krum's first name is a homonym of "victor" meaning winner. His last name is shared with the early Bulgarian khan Krum, a Bulgarian hero. Viktor Krum's wand is made of hornbeam and has a dragon heartstring core. It is ten and a quarter inches long. In the 1994 Quidditch World Cup game between Bulgaria and Ireland, he caught the snitch, ending the game but Ireland won the cup.
