HogwartsHogwarts - The world's premier school of witchcraft and wizardry

Hogwarts Express. The train which takes Harry and friends to Hogwarts each year

The Hogwarts Express is a bright red steam train (probably powered by magic) which transports students of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry to and from the magical school. Stopping only at Hogsmeade station and King's Cross in London, the Hogwarts Express runs at the start and end of each year, as well as at the start and end of the Christmas holiday. Since Hogwarts is very well protected, most likely unplottable and very hard to find, the Hogwarts Express is the easiest way to get there, maybe the only way for students. When Harry and Ron borrowed Mr Weasley's flying Ford Anglia, they followed the train all the way to Hogwarts.

The real train which played the part of the Hogwarts Express in the films was the West Coast Railway Company's 5972 "Olton Hall". The West Coast Railway Company has asked Warner Bros. to allow them to run the train as a tourist attraction, but has so far been refused.
